David Peterson appointed Chief Technology Officer

David Peterson has been named Chief Technology Officer for BoaB interactive, Pty Ltd.

Headquartered in Townsville, north Queensland, BoaB has a 12 year track record in the heart of the marine and tropical sciences research corridor. David has been instrumental in the firm's growth over the past 7 years.David Peterson, CTO for BoaB interactive

Andreas Wagner, BoaB founder and Director, said he was happy that David had accepted the promotion. "David is an amazing technical visionary and we've been very fortunate to work with him for so long. You don't get many people with his talents willing to stay with one firm and grow along with the organisation. I'm personally gratified to know that David will continue to guide BoaB into the wide world of Web 3.0 and beyond."

David developed a proprietary Content Management System (CMS) for BoaB "during the last phases of the first internet revolution." as he says. Since then he has been heavily focussed on semantic technologies and the next big shift.

"I think the future is bright for smart, fast, flexible organisations like BoaB" David explains. "There will be more and more demand for knowledge management solutions that use open-source tools and clever configuration to deliver results almost immediately. In the coming years, organisations are going to demand highly productive online applications. Technology has to be 'context aware' before it can support the organisation in its operating environment. BoaB have deep knowledge of the research and natural resource management communities, and we're keen to get the best technical solutions out there."

David is currently working with leading international and Australian climate change scientists and technology innovators to convene the first "Hack Climate Change" gathering later this year in Washington D.C.  [http://www.hackclimatechange.com/] David notes: "The Hack Climate Change effort is an example of how I want BoaB to develop. We're bringing our professional goals in line with one of the most important sustainability problems on the planet. We do great work, with amazing people and help solve important problems. I like that."

Although his original calling was photography and independent film making, David has managed to earn an international reputation in the burgeoning semantic web technologies community. David came to the Townsville from North Dakota when his wife, Nicola, decided to pursue field research in  coastal Queensland habitats. They are expecting their third child in November.
